As eye-roll-inducing as it is, adding a lot of hashtags under a social media post makes content more discoverable. I do this on my Instagram account, which I use to advertise my articles:

And yeah, it’s a bit cringey, but in my opinion, you gotta be shameless about it. Here’s how to make your own paragraph of hashtags look with a white dress and some fabric markers.

Difficulty level

★☆☆☆☆

Supplies

Dress

White dress that you can easily write on

Blue fabric marker

[Optional] Black fabric marker

Newspaper

List of hashtags that you like

Accessories

Light blue bow

Light blue heels

How-to

1. Lay the dress flat on the table and put a thick layer of newspaper beneath the section of the dress you are working on. Make sure that you’re not making any marks without newspaper underneath.

2. [Optional] Use the black fabric marker to write your favorite (or most obnoxious) hashtag across the front of the dress.

3. Take the blue fabric marker and write hashtags on the dress starting from the top down.

Be patient with the markers and shake them well before using them — the paint can come in fits and starts, making for an uneven look, especially if you write quickly. You may have to go over the letters more than once. I suggest putting on a good podcast while you’re at it!
